Old Town is a slice of classic roadside Americana on US-192 in Kissimmee, a few minutes south of the Walt Disney World area. The open-air district is built around a re-created Main Street lined with specialty shops, themed bars and restaurants, carnival-style amusement rides, and a handful of attractions — entry to the district itself is free, with pay-per-ride pricing on the amusements. Shopping leans toward one-of-a-kind and souvenir rather than big-box: you'll find Florida-themed gift stores, candy and old-fashioned sweets shops, antique and collectible dealers, airbrush T-shirt stands, magic and toy stores, and Western-wear outfitters. Mixed in are food stops ranging from ice cream parlors to barbecue, pizza, and sit-down Southern restaurants. Old Town is best known for its long-running Saturday Night Classic Car Cruise, when hundreds of hot rods, muscle cars, and classic American vehicles fill the parking lot and cruise through the property — a free event that draws locals and car enthusiasts from across Central Florida. A smaller Friday-night car show and live music round out the regular weekly calendar. The district's nostalgic, come-as-you-are feel makes it a low-cost counterpoint to the polished theme-park corridor a few miles north.
