Orlando Events Calendar: Festivals & Things to Do Every Month (2026)

April 15, 2026 6 min read

โ† Back to Blog

Orlando is a year-round events city. The theme parks alone run something significant almost every week. Add in downtown festivals, Lake Eola events, Winter Park markets, and the Space Coast, and you have a calendar that is never truly empty.

Here is the complete month-by-month breakdown of what is actually worth planning a trip around in 2026.

January: Quiet Start, Great Weather

Why visit: Lowest crowds of the year after the holidays end January 4. Average temps in the low 70s.

Events

  • Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (early January) โ€” half-marathon, full marathon, Dopey Challenge. Watch even if you are not running.
  • Winter Park Polar Plunge โ€” charity event at Lake Baldwin, early January.
  • Florida Manatee Festival (Crystal River, late January) โ€” 90 min drive north, manatee viewing peak.
  • Gasparilla Pirate Fest (Tampa, late January) โ€” 90 min drive west, huge pirate-themed festival.

Book: Disney marathon weekend sells out by summer. Everything else is walk-up.

February: Mardi Gras + Princess Weekend

Events

  • Universal Mardi Gras (early February through mid-April) โ€” free with park admission. Parade nightly, live concerts on weekends.
  • Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (late February) โ€” another sell-out event.
  • Daytona 500 (mid-February) โ€” NASCAR Cup Series opener. Worth a day trip for racing fans.
  • Valentine's Day in Winter Park โ€” dozens of restaurants on Park Avenue do special menus.

See our Mardi Gras Universal coverage for concert lineups.

March: Flower & Garden + Spring Break

Why it gets crowded: Spring break.

Events

  • EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival (March through early July) โ€” Disney's biggest annual EPCOT event. Topiary characters throughout the park, outdoor food booths, Garden Rocks concert series most evenings.
  • Universal Studios' Hollywood Horror Makeup Show season premiere
  • Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival (mid-March) โ€” one of the top art shows in the country. Free to attend.
  • Speedweeks at Daytona (early March aftermath of Daytona 500)
  • SeaWorld's Seven Seas Food Festival โ€” weekends through April.

Crowd level at theme parks: Mid-March is peak. Early or late March is manageable.

April: Spring Continues

Events

  • EPCOT Flower & Garden continues โ€” peak bloom.
  • Universal Mardi Gras concert finale (mid-April).
  • Disney's Spring Racing Shuffle โ€” quieter runDisney event.
  • Central Florida Fair (early April) โ€” Orlando's hometown fair at the fairgrounds off OBT.
  • Zellwood Corn Festival โ€” classic small-town Florida festival about 30 min northwest.
  • Florida Film Festival (mid-April, Enzian Theater Maitland) โ€” 10-day indie film event.

May: Transition Month

Events

  • EPCOT Flower & Garden runs into June.
  • Mother's Day events โ€” Disney tea parties at Grand Floridian, Universal Mother's Day brunches.
  • Star Wars Day (May 4) โ€” Disney Hollywood Studios goes hard. Special merch, photo ops.
  • Memorial Day weekend at Cocoa Beach โ€” beach is crowded but the vibe is fun.

Crowd level: Building toward summer.

June: Summer Launches

Events

  • Orlando Pride โ€” month-long celebrations, Lake Eola events, Pride parade in June.
  • Epcot Flower & Garden final weeks.
  • Universal's Summer Tribute Store opens โ€” limited edition merch.
  • 4th of July prep โ€” Lake Eola downtown, Disney, Universal all planning fireworks.

Weather warning: This is when summer heat starts being real. See our summer guide for survival strategy.

July: Peak Heat, Peak Crowds

Events

  • Independence Day at Magic Kingdom (specialty fireworks show), Epcot (Heartbeat of Freedom), Universal (CityWalk fireworks), Lake Eola (free downtown show). All extraordinary.
  • H2O Glow After Hours (Typhoon Lagoon) โ€” separately-ticketed water park nighttime party. Runs select Saturdays July-August.
  • Orlando International Comic Con (late July) โ€” smaller than big-city cons but legit.

Hotel strategy: Deals exist despite peak family season. See our where to stay guide.

August: Peak Heat, Pre-HHN

Events

  • Epcot starts Food & Wine setup (full launch late August).
  • Universal Halloween Horror Nights opens (late August) โ€” biggest annual event in Orlando arguably.
  • Back-to-school events at Disney Springs โ€” less commercial than you'd think.
  • Hurricane season peak โ€” September-October. Travel insurance recommended if booking.

September: HHN + Food & Wine Begin

Events

  • Halloween Horror Nights (Universal, select nights September-early November) โ€” the biggest haunt event in the US.
  • EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival (late August through mid-November) โ€” kiosks from 35+ countries, Eat to the Beat concert series.
  • Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Magic Kingdom, select nights through Halloween) โ€” family-friendly alternative to HHN.

October: Halloween Peak

Events

  • Mickey's Not-So-Scary peak nights.
  • Orlando Pride Parade (growing event annually).
  • Harvest Fun at Gatorland โ€” family Halloween alternative.
  • Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld โ€” halfway between HHN and family-friendly.
  • Orange County Fair (late October-early November).

Weather: Significantly cooler. Mid-70s to low 80s. Best month of the year arguably.

November: Holidays Begin

Events

  • EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays (late November through December) โ€” replaces Food & Wine. Holiday kiosks, Candlelight Processional, storytellers at each country pavilion.
  • Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (select nights starting mid-November) โ€” snow on Main Street, parades, special fireworks, cookies. Our Christmas guide covers this.
  • Universal's Holidays begin (mid-November) โ€” Grinchmas, Hogwarts Christmas, parade.
  • Macy's Thanksgiving on Main Street prep (Magic Kingdom) โ€” holiday decor goes up.
  • Festival of Trees (Orlando Museum of Art) โ€” massive holiday tree event.

December: Orlando at Its Most Magical

Events

  • Lake Eola Christmas lights and New Year's Eve fireworks downtown.
  • Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail โ€” photo-op bonanza.

Planning Your Trip Around an Event

If you have flexibility, pick an event first, then plan the rest of the trip around it. For most visitors, any of these will dramatically improve the quality of their Orlando visit:

  1. Epcot Flower & Garden + spring break week = incredible combo
  2. Epcot Food & Wine + mild fall weather = adult-friendly magic
  3. HHN weeknight + regular park day weekend = best value Universal experience
  4. Festival of the Holidays + MVMCP = peak Disney magic
  5. Any rocket launch from the Space Coast (see our rocket launch guide) = once-in-a-lifetime addition

See our first-time Orlando guide for the broader planning framework, and our 5-day itinerary for actually structuring the days.
