About Ormond Beach
Ormond Beach sits just north of Daytona, about an hour from Orlando, and is known as the 'Birthplace of Speed' for the early 20th-century land-speed records set on its hard-packed sand before racing moved to the Daytona oval. You can still drive directly onto the beach in most sections. It's a quieter, lower-density alternative to Daytona, with Tomoka State Park and the Rockefeller-era Casements museum a short drive inland.
